Dachshund grooming can take a while when your doxie has long hair

Grooming dachshunds can be so much easier than with other dog breeds. From giving baths to dealing with little or no shedding, it can be fun and shouldn't take up too much time each month.

Bathtime

Giving a dachshund a bath is a fun activity. Every photo I've seen of a doxie in a bathtub is enough to make your heart melt.

I don't think they love getting wet, but they'll tolerate it silently while they stand absolutely still.

Once they're back on the bath mat, watch out! You're going to get sprayed.

Grooming Dachshunds with Short and Long Hair

As for hair grooming, shorthaired dachshunds don’t ever need their hair to be clipped. A light, occasional brushing will help keep dust and dirt out, but it’s generally unnecessary.

Longhaired and wire hair dachshunds may need clipping or trimming to keep their hair neat. And regular brushing is necessary to avoid mats from occurring.
